Travel : Flights ex UK cost from £700 return; we can advise on this.
Luggage: 20 kgs is the regulation allowance.
Tourist Visas :  EU, US, Australian, Canadian and New Zealand citizens do not require visas for first month. Extensions to tourist visas for further 2 months easily obtained in Colombo.
Insurance : Travellers must obtain own personal insurance for themselves and their property; we are covered for public liability at the site itself.
Inoculations :  Consult your health clinic for full information. Typically you will require typhoid/diphtheria, hepatitis A, tetanus jabs, plus protection against malaria and polio.
Medical:  Medical system is good, with both private and state-owned clinics/hospitals. Pharmacies are well-stocked and very helpful.
Currency :  Sri Lankan rupee : present exchange rate (approximate) £1 = Rs175; $1 = Rs110; Euro 1 = Rs 155
Take travellers’ cheques but visa and mastercard credit cards accepted for some goods and services.
Communications : IDD telephone, fax and internet services are available throughout most of Sri Lanka as well as a good postal service.
Languages: Sinhala ( Indo-European language) and Tamil ( Dravidian language) spoken, each written in its own script; Sri Lankan version of English used by older people and the better educated.
Climate: Monsoon tropical, with average monthly temperature of 28-30°, but the Central Highlands, where Surynamaska lies, are cooler than the coastal plain; from Dec-Feb day temperatures are typically 25°, nights 20°.
Clothing :  Light summer clothing required, chiefly made of cotton; a jumper for evenings from Dec-Feb. Shorts, if worn, should be knee-length; swimwear should be reserved for beach /pool. Laundry service available.
Food:  Rice and curry is the traditional fare cooked in a variety of styles.
